Some of us with embroidery sewing machines, use water soluble stabilizer
to sew out the embroidery designs. The brand name stabilizer can get
costly to use so we have discovered water soluble hospital laundry bags.
These bags act much like brand name water soluble stabilizer, but
are thicker and are cheaper to use. The water soluble laundry bags can be used as an inexpensive alternative
to higher priced water soluble stabilizers. They can be used for applique, to stabilize serging of hems, seams, and any place regular
water soluble stabilizer is used. These bags come in either 1 mil or 1 1/4 mil thicknesses and
can only be ordered from the factory in numbers of 100 or more.
This site allows friends wanting TO SHARE in splitting up boxes of these bags, into smaller more usable amounts.
The prices cover the cost of the bags, packing material, (envelopes, tape, zip lock baggies to store in, etc.)
plus packing them and gas to and from post office. Please scroll down to order...

This will replace peel & stick backings and adhesive sprays for most applications. It is a considerable savings over the pressure sensitive adhesive backings and more importantly eliminates toxic airborne spray adhesives.Hydro-Stick can also be used as a traditional tear-away on difficult materials such as soft or loose knits. Just activate adhesive, adhere to article, hoop as normal and tear away when finished, it's that easy. Hydro-Stick is a completely safe product with no harmful chemicals. It is a completely water soluble adhesive for fast easy clean up. It won't 'gum' up needles or contaminate any moving parts on the machine.

FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT;Always make a test sample before you embroider on the real thing.
There are two kinds of embroiderers; those who do a test first and those that wish they had done a test sample first.
Keep these bags and all plastic type bags away from children, normal warning .
Keep the bags in zip lock, air and water tight baggies. Keep out of moisture
and direct light. Save all pieces and scraps, these can be made into
brush on stabilizer. The bags are thicker than regular water soluble
stabilizers so use less. It may take more effort to dissolve. I've not had much of a
problem with the 1 mil but the 1 1/4 mil may take more effort to dissolve.
Pull off and brush off as much of the excess as possible
If your project is machine washable, just toss it into washing machine, with as hot of water as fabric and thread will allow.
If not machine washable, or your in a hurry, spray with water, again pull off and brush off as much of the excess as possible.
Run under as hot of water as fabric will allow, you can put fabric or item in a strainer to run the water
over it. The action of fast running water often helps to dislodge stubborn spots.
Gently brush off excess with fingers or soft toothbrush. If still stubborn, try soaking in sink over night. This should take care of
most problems. Remember to make that test sample, if stitching is very dense, you may have to work harder at getting in between spots.
or just use the hot water kettle method.below
Stubborn tip; Tip from one of our users. This tip is from a professional seamstress who makes bridal gowns and accessories. She said it works well on the bridal veil tulle. If fabric can take the temperature; test first! Boil water in tea kettle. Put fabric in strainer, slowly pour boiling water over design. Rinse well under faucet. or with as many as 8 layers, put fabric in bowl or tub, pour boiling water over it, then let it sit in the bowl or tub for a few minutes until the water cools. Then rinse. All will come out.
NEW TIP; if your having trouble getting the stabilizer dissolved . Put the fabric into a bowl of water and put into micro wave for a minute or so. CAUTION; be careful with metallic thread. try a small test amount for just a second if it sparks do not continue!! go back to the tea kettle hot water method. A steam iron will also do a good job of removing stabilizer. Hold steam iron above embroidery let it steam on the work for a few seconds ,then put a press sheet over and under the area and press for a few seconds tting the steam go through the work area.
Combine 2 yards of scraps with 8 oz. of water and cup of alcohol.
use soft brush, (pastry, new small paint brush, or toothbrush) apply to
fabric. air dry or a use hair dryer When almost dry but not sticky, iron dry to remove excess moisture
use a press cloth When dry it should be firm and will be ready for most stitching.
To dissolve just run under water.
If you plan on saving the soluble solution for any long length of time,
be aware; There have been reports of the soluble solution growing a layer of mold on top.
It is not hard to make the solution and takes little time, so it might be wise to save your scrapes in a baggie
and make the brush on solution as needed.
After removing left over pieces from designs, and hoop. Place on an open brown paper bag all the pieces, until you have enough to make another sheet for your hoop. cover with another brown bag and use a hot iron. Viola., New sheet. This is good for all water soluble sheets sent in by Grace
Use the see through bags to make templates; draw design on top of bag
with marker and sew on outlines.
Use to stabilize in serging seams and hems
without adding bulk. You can also iron layers together to get extra thickness if wanted, but since the
bags are already thick, you probably will not need it. At least not
often.
